abstract：The tannery from Arzignano has moved and enlarged its production plant, by bringing the different phases of tanning in-house and making production more efficient with integrated systems, in order to guarantee international clientele with certified leathers of increasingly high quality

A leading reality in the Arzignano tannery district founded in 1998, Thimeco is specialised in the production of leathers destined for the high-end fashion industry, including above all footwear and leather goods. Partner of the VKP LT Russian tanning group, its story is one of constant innovation and quality that has sustained its growth and positioning in different European and international markets.

To support this pathway and set itself new growth-oriented goals, Thimeco recently moved its headquarters to a new plant that extends across 3000 square metres, always in Arzignano: “We decided to move and expand our production facilities, bringing the different phases of tanning in-house like staking, fulling, and buffing previously entrusted to subcontractors, to guarantee an even greater and stricter quality control of our leathers. – explains Davide Baldo, director of Thimeco – The new production plants are a perfect example of the Industry 4.0 with integrated machines and systems that make the production phases in tanning more efficient, replying to the criteria of quality and sustainability that are a priority for our company”.

The leathers exiting the new plant in Arzignano are finished by subcontractors, carefully selected for qualification and certifications, and then return to the company for a second quality check, thus guaranteeing the tannery’s compliance with the high standards of ISO9001 (quality control) and ISO14001 (environmental management systems) certifications. “Another guarantee we offer our customers is compliance with the LWG Leather Working Group standard – continues Davide Baldo – which allows us to monitor our leathers along the entire supply chain, from the butchering to the delivery”.

The new Thimeco plant also focuses on energetic sustainability, which is entrusted to renewable sources: “Currently our photovoltaic panel system partially covers our energy needs, but our goal for the future is to arrive at a 100% coverage through this source”, concludes Davide Baldo.

The new headquarters also host the Thimeco offices and a showroom where customers can see the innovative and trendy proposals of the company.  

In terms of supply, Thimeco processes leathers coming from Russia, New Zealand, Eastern Europe, and South America, while in terms of distribution, its main end markets are Spain, Portugal, and Russia.

Thimeco’s goal for the future? That of continuing to supply the fashion market, while making the most of its certified and sustainable quality proposal, which will reinforce its presence on European and international markets.
