SLA（stereolithography）printing

SLA printing uses an UV laser to precisely cure photopolymer cross-sections, transforming them from liquid to solid. Parts are
built directly from CAD data, layer-by-layer into prototypes, investment casting patterns, tools,and end-use parts. Once the SLA
printing process is complete, SLA parts are cleaned in a solvent solution to remove any residual uncured resin from the part
surface. Cleaned parts are then cured in a UV oven.

SLA 3D printing is much more cost-effective than CNC machining not only in labor cost, production time but also details of shoe sole models.

1. Make prototype to check new design

KINGS 600Pro is especially liked by customer in producing complicated shoe sole design, esp.textures, sharp edges/corners, hollow desgins, and etc.

2. Use the 3D printed shoe model as the master model

The use of 3D printed shoe model can effectively replace the CNC-engraved wooden model and perform sand casting, and the molds made from 3D printed master have finer textures and patterns.

P.S. The brown model is printed by KINGS SLA 3D printer and the black one is a vacuum casting copy of the brown one.

3.Printing Resin for PU mold We've tested different resin for PU mold printing:

The light yellow and brown resin can resist 70-75 ℃, and we've tested it's also enough for PU sole production test. The brown resin is better with detail. If we just need a sample mold to produce a PU sample sole, there's no need to make frame. If we need larger qty production, we'll need to make metal frame for it for more production.

P.S. The sole mold core is printed by KINGS SLA 3D printer.

FAQ

1.What model do you recommend for shoe model?
The following two models are most popular for shoe, main different of which is printing size/ capacity, and you can choose a suitable one according to your demand.
* KINGS 6035Pro, which can print 4-5 pairs of shoe soles in around 12 hours;
* KINGS 600Pro, which can print 8-10 pairs of shoe soles in around 20 hours.
2. What resin do you recommend for shoe model?
There’s several kinds of resin popular for shoe, which can be used as prototype, model for casting mold process, and direct PUmold:
* KS408B is an ABS like resin in brown color, which is most widely used by shoe sole manufacturers, and esp. molder makers. It an be both used for prototype use, and as model for casting mold;
* KS198S is a rubber like resin in white color, which is liked by shoe manufacturers and sole mold maker to check shoe prototype. It’s rubber like with good elasticity and good details.

3. A box of liquid how much shoe will you produce and how much?

One bucket resin is 10kg. The number of shoe models a box resin can print depends on the size and wall thickness of the shoe model or mold.For example, a sole model normally costs around 300g resin with 2mm thickness. So 1 box resin can print about 25-30 pieces sole models. In actual printing, customers will choose different wall thickness from 2mm to 5mm according to the use of the 3D printed models or molds to reduce cost.

4.What printing sizes available for your SLA 3D printers?
There are 11 machine models available from 300*350*350mm to 2700*900*800mm to meet different customer's requirements. Please contact us for the catalog.

5. Can you do OEM customization?
Yes,we can customize the machine according to the requirements of our customers, for example logo, customized resin vat size and etc.
6. How long will be your delivery time?
It’s usually around 15 working days.

7. We’re using CNC machines right now, and we want to realize the cnc value first, which cost us a lot.
I understand that we would want to realize the value for sth expensive we bought. But i want to share with you some experience from our customers in china and abroad:
1) After buying 3d printers, the customers are using both cnc and 3d printers in the beginning, as they don't want to waste the production capacity from cnc like you. Here's what they're doing in maybe the first year: they use cnc for simple works, and 3d printers for complicated work. After 1-2 years, some of the reduce or cut the model cncs.
2) 3D printer saves too much money (labor fee) compared to cnc, probably 15000-20000 usd can be saved per year.

8. What is the shelf life of your resins?

The resin guarantee time is 1 year. It is suggested to store the resin in the workshop where the machine runs.
The resin in the machine tank always need to be full, and we need to keep the temperature and humidity of the workshop ( Humidity: < 40%; Temperature: 22℃ to 25℃). As long as you keep the temperature and humidity, and use the machine regularly (new resin added gets the initial resin renewed), there’s no need to worry about the shelf time of resin in the machine.

9. Does the machine print with different resin?

Kings 3D offers multiple choices in resin: ABS like, PMMA like, rubber like, PP like high-temp resistant resin, and etc. And Kings SLA 3D printers works well with all resin above, with different parameter packages,though. With rich experience in machine using and testing, Kings 3D has developed stable parameters with different kinds of resin.

10. How long should I have to change the material in the resin tank/vat?

As long as the SLA 3D printer keep running, the resin in the vat can be recycled. What you need to do is to add resin to keep its working level.

11. Can I send you 3d file to test your printing quality?

Yes, of course. You could send us a 3d file for sample testing.

12. Are you looking for representatives in international market?

13. May I ask what software do I need for the machine?
There's two software: one is machine control software, and the other is file preparation software.
Machine control software: We have been developing and innovating our own software since the very beginning, and the experience of the team can date back to the year 2003. The control software is one of the main core competencies, ensuring long term printing stability. Sure this is included in the price. And our team is continuously updating the software, and all future software updating will be free of charge.

File preparation software like Magics is needed for file preparation.

14. How are the warranty, maintenance, and after-sale issue?
Warranty: 2 years, including laser
Maintenance: Machine maintenance is simple: adding oil for recoater rail once a month, and cleaning the recoater once a week
Aftersale service: The industrial SLA 3D printer has a very high level of stability. In case there's an issue, if it's software, we have a quick responsive after-sale team, who can solve problems or update software with Team Viewer through remote control. If any replacement in hardware is needed, we'll send it soon by fastest express, and a video illustrating how to replace it. In worst cases, if on-site service is really needed, we'll send our engineers from China or our partners in the local will go to you and fix it.
