Trade fairs are a fundamental asset for SMEs and for Made in Italy, their restart can trigger the country’s economic recovery, while waiting for certainties from the Italian government.

PITTI Uomo, Bimbo, Filati and Taste in June, Milano Unica (the textile-accessories excellence fair) in July and then in September MICAM Milano (the international footwear fair), MIPEL (the international event dedicated to leather goods and leather accessories), TheONE Milano (the women’s haut-à-porter show), LINEAPELLE (exhibition dedicated to the most innovative leathers, fabrics, accessories and components), DaTE (event dedicated to avant-garde eyewear) and HOMI Fashion & Jewels Exhibition (an event dedicated to bijoux and fashion accessories), ask the Government for absolute certainty for the restarting of trade fairs, in compliance with the rules and health safety protocols for both exhibitors and visitors.

The specific request is that in the next Dpcm, scheduled on 6 April, the government will allow trade fairs to go ahead compatibly with the protection of public health.

After all, the organisation of an international exhibition aimed at a b2b audience takes a long time to plan and set up and cannot be programmed in a few days. Prolonging this uncertainty phase means compromising the entire autumn season.

It should be recalled that, according to CFI estimates, fairs generate a turnover of 60 billion euro per year and that b2b events are an important driver for companies: 50% of exports arise from contacts originating from the participation in trade fairs, for a total volume of 251 billion euro per year and a return on investment of 8 euro for every euro invested.
