From the collaboration between the Italian brand Simona Vanth and the industrial designer and artisan Pablo Limon, arrives the project of Argento Matto, a clog that surprises with its metallic camouflage effects.
The starting point is the iconic shape of the Simona Vanth signature clog inspired by the traditional clogs of Chinese farmers, mixed with Milanese architecture and the stories of Robert Luis Stevenson’s Arabian Nights. On this base, Pablo Limon gives free reign to his creativity, painting the clogs in a laboratory in Sabell, Spain, using a unique self-developed process guided by… pure randomness. The clogs are sprayed with multiple layers of silver nitrate paint and then dried at 32° before adding a chemical catalyst that induces the chrome finish. The process is then repeated another three times, after which, Limon erodes the surface with wet sandpaper, working quickly and intuitively to create the final camouflage effect, which every time is different and unique. The clogs are then assembled in the Italian production facility of Simona Vanth using only the simplest functional elements – vinyl straps, footbands in nylon mesh and white nappa leather: the result is Argento Matto sandals offering a surprising and poetic combination of shape and colour.
